Austin s commercial construction market is booming and we re looking for a skilled Level II Telecom Technician ready to take the next step in their low-voltage career.
TradeSTAR is partnering with a respected Central Texas contractor seeking an experienced telecom professional who knows their way around structured cabling systems and wants steady work on commercial projects across the Austin metro.
If you can read prints, lead small crews, and handle installs from rough-in to final test this opportunity is built for you.
About the Opportunity
As a Level II Telecom Technician, you ll work on commercial new builds and retrofit projects including office buildings, healthcare facilities, schools, data rooms, and mixed-use developments throughout the Austin area.
You ll be hands-on in the field while also stepping into light leadership responsibilities.
What You ll Do
Pull, route, and label Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cable
Install J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, and support structures
Terminate:
110 & 66 blocks
Patch panels
Workstation outlets
Assist with fiber terminations (experience level will determine scope)
Perform testing and documentation (Fluke or similar testers)
Read blueprints and determine cable pathways
Lead small crews of 2 4 technicians on commercial job sites
Maintain clean, organized telecom rooms and IDF/MDF spaces
Qualifications Who You Are
2 4 years of commercial structured cabling experience
Strong understanding of EIA/TIA standards
Experience with copper terminations and basic fiber work
Comfortable reading prints and laying out cable paths
Experience leading small teams is a plus
OSHA 10 is preferred
Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
