Voice & Data Service Technician | Be the Expert Who Keeps Networks Running!
TradeSTAR is seeking an experienced Voice & Data Service Technician to support one of our trusted client partners. In this role, you ll serve as the go-to professional for diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing low-voltage network systems in active commercial environments. This position is ideal for Level II, Level III, and Lead Technician level candidates who excel in troubleshooting and want to transition into advanced service roles or grow toward Foreman, Service Lead, or Project Manager positions.
About the Role:
As a Voice & Data Service Technician, you will:
Respond to service calls and perform diagnostics on copper and fiber network cabling systems.
Troubleshoot connectivity issues, damaged cabling, and hardware failures.
Install and service Cat6 and fiber optic cabling.
Perform copper terminations, test, and certify cable to industry standards.
Complete small-scale adds, moves, and changes in live environments with minimal disruption.
Build, clean up, or re-organize MDF/IDF rooms as needed.
Communicate findings to customers and document all work performed.
Work independently or lead Helpers, Apprentices, and Level I Technicians on service assignments.
Your Background:
Successful candidates typically have:
3+ years of commercial voice/data cabling experience, with service-level troubleshooting preferred.
Ability to interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, cut sheets, and device layouts.
Experience with copper and fiber testing using 4-pair testers, TDRs, and/or OTDRs.
Strong knowledge of industry best practices and installation standards.
Professional communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Flexible availability for daytime, after-hours, or weekend service calls as needed.
