Job Position: Travel Structured Cabling Technician

Are you an experienced Voice/Data Technician who s ready to hit the road and take on high-profile structured cabling projects? We re looking for skilled technicians to join a traveling crew supporting commercial installations across Texas. If you have strong copper and fiber experience and want steady work, great pay, and the chance to work on major builds, this is your opportunity.
About the Opportunity / What You ll Do
You ll support a low-voltage contractor on commercial construction, remodel, and technology deployment projects that require statewide travel. Work includes copper and fiber backbone installation in enterprise environments, schools, industrial facilities, data rooms, and multi-building campuses.
You ll:
Install, pull, dress, and label Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A structured cabling
Build out cable pathways: J-hooks, ladder rack, basket tray, sleeves, and conduit
Install and terminate fiber optic backbone cabling (loose-tube & tight-buffer)
Perform fiber terminations using LC/SC/ST connectors
Conduct basic and advanced fiber testing using OTDR and power meters
Dress and terminate patch panels, 110/66 blocks, and multi-pair copper
Read blueprints and identify cable routes while coordinating onsite with leads
Support buildouts of MDFs/IDFs, including rack/stack and cable management
Work with a team to deliver clean, code-compliant installations on strict timelines
Qualifications / Who You Are
2 4+ years of commercial structured cabling experience (Level II or III equivalent)
Strong fiber optics skillset: fusion splicing, connector termination, and certification testing
Deep understanding of EIA/TIA standards
Ability to use OTDR, power meter, tracer, and certification testers
Comfortable with extended travel and overnights (company-paid lodging & per diem)
Ability to work from lifts, ladders, and in physically demanding environments
Reliable transportation to travel departure points

Compensation & Benefits
$22.00 $32.00/hr depending on experience & fiber proficiency
