TradeSTAR is currently hiring an experienced Lead Voice & Data Technician for commercial structured cabling and low-voltage projects in the San Antonio area.
Job Responsibilities
Lead commercial voice and data installation crews on active job sites
Coordinate daily activities with project managers, superintendents, and other trades
Install, route, support, and terminate structured cabling systems
Oversee installation of copper voice/data cabling, fiber optic backbone cabling, wireless access point cabling, MDF/IDF infrastructure, and backbone/horizontal cabling systems
Perform and supervise Cat6/Cat6A terminations, patch panel installations, rack/stack builds, fiber terminations/testing, and cable certification/troubleshooting
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, one-line diagrams, floor plans, and cable schedules
Manage cable pathways including conduit, cable tray, ladder rack, and J-hook systems
Ensure installations comply with ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and commercial job site standards
Maintain project documentation, labeling, and as-built information
Assist with material management, crew productivity, and job site safety
Qualifications
3+ years of commercial structured cabling experience
Previous lead or foreman experience preferred
Strong understanding of voice, data, and fiber optic systems
Experience managing crews on commercial construction projects
Ability to troubleshoot cabling infrastructure and connectivity issues
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
