Description: Fire Alarm Technician
TradeSTAR is actively hiring highly skilled Fire Alarm Technicians for commercial and industrial projects throughout the Temple area. These positions are with leading life safety and low voltage contractors supporting new construction, retrofit, service, inspection, and integrated systems projects.
We are seeking technicians with strong field experience in fire alarm installation, diagnostics, programming, commissioning, and service. Opportunities are available for entry-level Helpers through advanced Lead Technicians, Foremen, and Project-Level professionals.
Technical Responsibilities
Install, terminate, label, and test fire alarm system cabling and field devices
Perform installation and startup of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
Interpret one-line diagrams, device maps, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and sequence of operation documents
Install and troubleshoot SLC loops, NAC circuits, booster panels, annunciators, relays, duct detectors, tamper switches, flow switches, and monitor/control modules
Conduct voltage and continuity testing using digital multimeters and testing equipment
Diagnose ground faults, Class A/Class B circuit faults, communication failures, and device addressing issues
Program, configure, and troubleshoot intelligent fire alarm control panels
Perform acceptance testing and commissioning in accordance with NFPA 72 standards
Verify device operation and integration with access control, elevator recall, HVAC shutdown, and mass notification systems
Complete point-to-point testing and system verification documentation
Coordinate with inspectors, project managers, superintendents, and AHJs during inspections and final walkthroughs
Maintain accurate redlines, as-builts, and service documentation

Preferred Qualifications
Commercial fire alarm installation and service experience
Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 72
Knowledge of Class A and Class B wiring configurations
Experience with smoke control interfaces and auxiliary relays
Ability to read and interpret engineered construction drawings
NICET Fire Alarm Certification preferred
Texas Fire Alarm License preferred for service and lead positions
Experience with low voltage systems integration is a plus
Ability to work independently on service calls and project tasks
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
