Responsibilities:
Conducts fire alarm testing and inspections. Document all results in detailed building reports and discrepancy reports. Ensure that the system is operating correctly.
Reports problems or discrepancies resulting from the inspection.
Monitors fire alarm panel.
Completes reports and paperwork associated with the inspection.
Interacts with building owner or building engineer prior to, during and after completion of the testing process.
Shares reports with other departments to resolve issues or discrepancies.
May train or assist less experienced/newer technicians on the job.
Ensures proper testing equipment and materials are onsite for effective and safe testing and inspection process.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Required Skills
Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and design drawings
Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
Basic math skills
Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Good English speaking and reading skills
Certifications & Licenses
-Industry and/or product-specific certifications helpful(Honeywell, Gamewell, Bosch, EST 3, Notifier, Silent Knight, Vesda, DSX, Lenel, S2, Software House)
Must have or be able to obtain TX FAL and FEL
Must have valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Must obtain NICET certification within two years.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the Technician is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear; uses hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. On occasion, the Technician may be required to climb and work in high places, stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. Position may also require work in confined spaces and exposure to different types of outdoor weather conditions. Risk of electrical shock and/or general hazards found in a construction environment are present.
The Technician must frequently lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift, push or pull up to 75 pounds.
The position is a field position. The Technician will be required to travel to and from job sites daily. Must provide own transportation and carry some tools in own vehicle. Off-hours work including weekends very early starts nights, etc.
