Austin Area | $25+/hr
TradeSTAR is hiring experienced Licensed Fire Alarm Technicians for commercial life safety installation, service, and commissioning projects throughout the Austin area. These positions support large-scale commercial construction, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, schools, mixed-use developments, and mission-critical environments.
We are seeking highly skilled technicians with current fire alarm licensing and strong experience working with commercial addressable fire alarm systems, troubleshooting complex field devices, and ensuring full code compliance.

Job Responsibilities
Install, service, troubleshoot, and commission commercial fire alarm systems
Install and terminate fire alarm control panels, annunciators, smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, horn/strobes, monitor modules, control modules, duct detectors, and relay devices
Pull and route FPL and low-voltage fire alarm cabling through conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, and structured pathways
Diagnose and repair SLC loop faults, NAC circuit failures, ground faults, communication errors, and device-level issues
Program and configure addressable fire alarm systems using manufacturer software and programming tools
Perform inspections, system testing, sensitivity testing, and final acceptance testing in accordance with NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements
Read and interpret riser diagrams, wiring schematics, sequence of operations, device layouts, and submittal packages
Troubleshoot integrated life safety systems including elevator recall, smoke control interfaces, door release functions, and suppression monitoring systems
Maintain accurate service reports, inspection documentation, and as-built records
Coordinate with inspectors, project managers, superintendents, and other trades on active commercial projects

Technical Requirements
Current Texas Fire Alarm License required
3+ years of commercial fire alarm experience
Strong knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems
Experience troubleshooting SLC loops, NAC circuits, and system communication faults
Understanding of NFPA 72, NEC requirements, and local AHJ regulations
Ability to independently diagnose and repair system issues in commercial environments
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required
