Ready to put your structured cabling experience to work and take the next step in your career? TradeSTAR is hiring on behalf of a client seeking an Experienced Voice & Data Technician for work in the San Antonio area.
If you know your way around commercial structured cabling, can handle terminations and testing, read prints, and get the job done with limited supervision, we want to hear from you.
What You ll Do
As a Level II Voice & Data Technician, you ll work on commercial low-voltage and structured cabling installations, including:
Pulling, routing, identifying, and labeling Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cable
Installing J-hooks, support rings, cable slings, cable tray, and ladder rack
Terminating workstation outlets and telecommunications-room equipment
Working with 110 blocks, 66 blocks, and patch panels
Performing copper and fiber testing and documenting results
Working with multi-pair copper and multi-strand fiber cabling
Reading blueprints and identifying proper cable pathways
Assisting with site surveys when needed
Supporting or leading small crews of technicians
What We re Looking For
Approximately 2 4 years of commercial Voice/Data or structured cabling experience
Strong Cat5e and Cat6 installation and termination skills
Experience terminating workstation and closet equipment
Familiarity with commercial cabling standards and installation practices
Experience using basic testing equipment
Ability to read prints and determine cable pathways
Fiber experience is a strong plus
Ability to work independently and contribute to a professional field team
Leadership experience with small crews is a plus
Dependable transportation and a strong work ethic
