Job Position: Experienced Fire Alarm Technician

Location: Round Rock, TX 78664

Pay Rate: $20.00 $30.00 per hour


Position Overview
TradeSTAR is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Technician to install, service, troubleshoot, inspect, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems throughout the Round Rock area. The ideal candidate has experience working with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems and is committed to delivering safe, code-compliant installations and exceptional customer service.


Responsibilities
Install, service, and troubleshoot commercial fire alarm systems.
Install and terminate initiating devices, notification appliances, control panels, power supplies, and communication circuits.
Perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire alarm systems.
Diagnose wiring issues, ground faults, device failures, and communication problems.
Program and troubleshoot addressable fire alarm control panels.
Perform system startup, commissioning, and acceptance testing.
Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and project specifications.
Complete inspection reports, service documentation, and as-built drawings.
Coordinate with project managers, customers, and AHJs during inspections and project completion.
Ensure all work complies with NFPA 70, NFPA 72, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.


Required Qualifications
2+ years of commercial fire alarm installation or service experience.
Experience with addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
Ability to troubleshoot fire alarm panels, field devices, and wiring issues.
Experience reading construction drawings and wiring diagrams.
Knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 standards.
Strong understanding of low-voltage electrical systems.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on commercial construction sites.


Preferred Qualifications
Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL).
NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification.
Experience with Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire-Lite, Edwards, Siemens, Potter, Bosch, or Simplex systems.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
Experience with inspections, testing, and system commissioning.
