Electronic Security Systems Estimator/Designer
The Estimator prepares proposals for either negotiated work or to submit as part of a bid. This position is focused on electronic security and access control applications in commercial structures. Experience estimating commercial voice/data and audio/visual projects is also desired. This position will be responsible for managing the estimating process which will include analyzing preconstruction documentation such as plans/prints, site surveys, scope, etc. to estimate for labor, materials, travel, time, etc.
The Estimator will work closely with the sales team to address any discrepancies between the plans and specs with the client/vendor/end user in order to receive clarity and eliminate errors.
Qualifications:
Minimum of seven years experience performing design work in the low voltage technology (Voice/Data, Security, AV) industry specifically for commercial construction
Strong background in Software House and similar product.
Skilled with a PC and various software such as Microsoft Suite, estimating software (such as D-Tools, Accubid, etc. ), project management software, design software (Autocad, Revit), etc.
Ability to read prints/plans & specs.
Ability to write a scope of work and prepare a bill of materials
Customer service oriented
Expert knowledge of the Low Voltage industry and various low voltage products, solutions and manufacturers
Problem Seeker/Solver
Attention to detail
Work well under pressure.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
Knowledgeable in all aspects of low voltage cabling such as copper and fiber cabling utilized for technology applications.
Experience in change order negotiation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Write scope and bill of materials.
Attend site visits, pre bid meetings, etc.
Accurately estimate projects in a timely manner.
Manage the estimating process from start to finish.
Prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
Communicate with internal sales team, suppliers, and client/end users to define project scope, negotiate pricing, and address any errors or deficiencies.
Research quotes from suppliers for materials
Stay current on technology trends in the Electronic Security, Access Control, Voice/Data and AV verticals.
Analyze preconstruction documentation.
Generate change orders and extra work requests.
Identify new business opportunities and projects to bid.
Knowledge of building codes and wiring standards, including BICSI guidelines and EIA/TIA standards.
Meet bid submittal deadlines.
This is a full time, direct hire position with a large Texas based Electrical & Low Voltage contactor with a national foot print. The compensation package will include a base salary between $85k-$115K, benefits, and bonus plan.
